In June a number from St Luke's Church headed up the road to Launde Abbey for an away day. Set in the beautiful rolling East Leicestershire Launde Abbey is a Christian retreat house set in the beautiful rolling countryside of east Leicestershire.
Billed as a gentle reflective day tailored to those more senior in years, but not exclusively so! The day included a service in the chapel of Launde Abbey, the opportunity to enjoy and explore the garden and grounds, get creative with various craft activities, take part in prayer stations based on Ephesians 6, and join in with a Godly Play session hosted by our very own Lizzie Berry.
There was even mention on the timetable for the day a few minutes after lunch to have a snooze.
Some of those who came along shared,
"A wonderful peaceful environment."
"While I was walking in the labyrinth it felt like I was drawing closer to God even when the path twisted and turned and took me further away from the middle."
"As I walked the grounds to find the different crosses I was given the opportunity to think of Jesus carrying his cross."
"Having a sense of peace and longing for the places and people not at peace to experience something of this."
A huge thank you to our Seniors team (C3A - Church of the Third Age) for putting the day together and we currently have plans for an afternoon tea in vicarage garden in August and a boat trip on Friday 1st September.
