Finance Update

In May 2024 everyone who counts St Luke's as the church they belong to was asked to prayerfully consider what their giving to St Luke's over the next 12 months would be.

Praise God for his provision and thank you for your generosity. The increase in giving over the next 12 months is:

Below you can find more of a financial update and information on different ways to give.

1. 2024 finance update

2023 was a difficult year financially resulting in a deficit of £46,000. This increase in giving, some savings we’ve been able to make, and some further grant funding.

The current estimate for 2024 is a deficit of £20,000-£25,000. This is not yet where we want to be and work is being done to reduce this further and for us to be at least breaking even in 2025.

In Matthew 6 Jesus tells his followers to look at the birds and notice that they do not sow, or reap, or store away in barns and yet your heavenly Father feeds them? Are you not much more valuable than they?

We are to seek first God’s kingdom and his righteousness first knowing that what we need will be given to us. This doesn’t mean we stop sowing, reaping, and storing, rather we don’t have to be anxious.

I’m hugely grateful for the work of Anne Sawford (Treasurer), Rachel Amoah (Bookkeeper) and Ant Lount (Operations Director) for all their hard work on our finances.

4. Leave a legacy

Making a will is a way of ensuring that those God has put in your care are cared for after you are gone. It is also an opportunity to leave a gift that can make a lasting different to the mission and ministry of St Luke’s Church - either a set amount of money or a percentage of your estate.

It is strongly recommended that you seek professionally legal advice when making or amending your will.

The Church of England have partnered with Farewill to offer a free online will writing service from the comfort of your home, for free and in less than 30 minutes.

You can also ask friends and family for recommendations of a local solicitor to use or by searching on www.lawsociety.org.uk.

If you have already made you will but would still like to include a gift to St Luke’s you can ask your solicitor or legal advisor to draw up a codicil – a simple legal addition to your existing will.
